Hello, December, I'm so trilled to see you! As much as I love fall, nothing makes my heart skip a beat like the start of winter. Since I was a little girl, I have always loved the magic that seems to accompany December. The decorations, lights, freshly cut Christmas trees, classic holiday movies and stories. The first snowfall and having to bundle up in puffy coats and scarves. December is a month of giving and charity, and it always seems as if there's such a wonderful spirit that fills the air. Lastly, I LOVE LOVE LOVE all the festivals, fairs, and concerts that accompany the season.
Last year was our first December in Saint Louis and I spent the majority of the month with major FOMO because there were so many events to take part in and it was impossible to accomplish it all. Luckily, my sweet and patient husband reminded me that we weren't going anywhere anytime soon, and therefore, I was not under any sort of obligation to drag us to every event in the city and surrounding suburbs that year (despite my best efforts).
Some of our favorite events from last season included: the Moscow Ballet's Great Russian Nutcracker, Handel's Messiah performed by the Saint Louis Symphony, Lafayette Square Parlor tour, Holidays in Old North, Garden Glow, and running Candy Cane Lane. There are so many wonderful events to participate in this season, I knew I wanted to mix it up with some of my favorites from last year as well as work in as many new events as I could!
For 2016, this is my Saint Louis December Holiday Bucket List:
3. . Run Santa's North Pole Dash
15. Try as many cocktails as possible at Planter House's new pop-up Christmas Bar: Miracle on Chouteau
So, St. Louis, this obviously is a fraction of what's happening. Anything I've missed that's a not to be missed event? Let me know! You may have heard, but I suffer from major FOMO.
